چکیده

Koehler, G.D., Chipley, D. and Kyser, T.K., 1991. Measurement of the hydrogen and oxygen isotopic compositions of concentrated chloride brines and brines from fluid inclusions in halite. Chem. Geol. (Isot. Geosci. Sect.), 94: 45-54. Solutions of l-5 m NaCI, KCl, CaC12 and MgC12, and synthetic brines were analyzed for hydrogen and oxygen isotopic compositions by vacuum distillation-microequilibration techniques. No effect on the hydrogen isotopic composition was observed for any of the solutions within the precision of the technique of It Sob determined from analyses of distilled water. Oxygen isotopic compositions of solutions measured by vacuum distillation-microequilibration indicate that oxygen isotopes are not fractionated during analysis in NaCl, KC1 and CaCl, solutions. Vacuum distillation-microequilibration analyses of MgC12 solutions show depletions in “0 relative to pure water that can be related to the concentration of Mg’+ in the solution. The greatest depletion in IgO occurs in the 4 m MgC12 solutions which have 6”O-values 6Oh lower than that measured for pure water. Corrections based on the measurement of the 6’80-values of the pure MgC12 solutions can also be applied to mixed chloride brines. Both melting and crushing of halite grown in solutions of known isotopic composition followed by microequilibration to determine the stable isotopic composition of fluid inclusions give results within the precision determined from analyses of distilled water.

Asteroidal water within fluid inclusion-bearing halite in an H5 chondrite, Monahans (1998)

Crystals of halite and sylvite within the Monahans (1998) H5 chondrite contain aqueous fluid inclusions. The fluids are dominantly sodium chloride-potassium chloride brines, but they also contain divalent cations such as iron, magnesium, or calcium. Two possible origins for the brines are indigenous fluids flowing within the asteroid and exogenous fluids delivered into the asteroid surface from...

Elemental composition of concentrated brines in subduction zones and the deep continental crust

It has been well established that fluids played an important part in determining chemical characteristics in many crustal terranes. Studies of fluid inclusions in eclogites have established that brines coexisted with the primary mineral assemblages during their metamorphic crystallization. These brines are currently multiply saturated in halide salts, carbonates, oxides, and sulfides. As a firs...

In this study, brine and sediment samples from the Meighan basin located about 15 km northeast of Arak city were considered. Sediments samples were collected from boreholes and surface sediments of playa bed were studied for their mineralogical content by X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique and sedimentology. The results showed that the Playa sediments were consist of chemical (evaporate) and detr...

Orthomagmatic origin for the Ilkwang Cu–W breccia-pipe deposit, southeastern Kyongsang Basin, South Korea

Four distinct types of fluid inclusion are associated with brecciation, alteration and mineralization in the Ilkwang Cu–W breccia-pipe deposit in the southeastern Kyongsang Basin, South Korea. The earliest fluid inclusions in igneous quartz have salinities of 35–49 wt% NaCl equiv. and homogenize by halite dissolution. This fluid exsolved directly from the melt. A CO2-bearing fluid (2–4 wt% NaCl...

Microscopic identification of prokaryotes in modern and ancient halite, Saline Valley and Death Valley, California.

Primary fluid inclusions in halite crystallized in Saline Valley, California, in 1980, 2004-2005, and 2007, contain rod- and coccoid-shaped microparticles the same size and morphology as archaea and bacteria living in modern brines. Primary fluid inclusions from a well-dated (0-100,000 years), 90 m long salt core from Badwater Basin, Death Valley, California, also contain microparticles, here i...
